Stellantis Brands Offering Free Chargers with EV Purchase

by | July 15, 2024

New EV buyers face an immediate dilemma once they make the choice to go all-electric: how will I charge my new vehicle? Stellantis is making it easier with a few options, including a new free home charging setup.

Stellantis offers at-home charging station or charge credits with new BEV purchase package in the U.S.

Now, through its Free2move unit, Stellantis is taking some of the guess work about how to charge a new buyer’s electric vehicle by offering either at home unit or charge credits at Free2move public charging stations.

For Stellantis, which is lagging its rivals in terms of EV development and production, offer is critical as the company is ready to unleash a wave of new BEVs in the second half of 2024.

The all-new, all-electric 2024 Fiat 500e, 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona, 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S, 2025 Jeep Recon and 2025 Ram 1500 REV are among the new BEVs either just hitting showrooms now or can be ordered.

Timing critical

“With our fully electric vehicles now arriving in the U.S. market, starting with the Fiat 500e, and the Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger Daytona coming soon, our customers will quickly realize that our BEVs will carry the same brand DNA that our customers have grown to love, but with electrification and next level technology,” said Carlos Zarlenga, COO, Stellantis.

“Electrification is a game changer. Yes, our customers will see efficiency gains, but they will also experience incredible performance advancements, including technology, ride and handling, giving our brands, such as Jeep, greater off-road capabilities and defending the Dodge Charger’s claim as the world’s quickest and most powerful muscle car.”

Unless it is Tesla, EV sales are accelerating in the U.S. However, while sales are are on the rise, sellers are looking to separate themselves from the pack.

There’s no question that the industry hasn’t maintained the more than eightfold increase in EV sales seen between 2019 through 2023. But, with the exception of segment leader Tesla, demand continues to rise and, for some brands, set all-time records during June.

“EV demand is still growing in the United States and we’re seeing that with new products coming to market helping draw demand to the segment,” including older offerings, Stephanie Brinley, the principal analyst for S&P Global Mobility, told Headlight.News recently.

What are the options

Free2move Charge Go Package includes $600 of charging credits that can be used at more than 94,000 charging ports across the U.S. and Canada.

Stellantis is launching its Free2move Charge website and Free2move Charge app as the company begins to launch its first all-new, all-electric vehicles this year, in hopes of easing the transition to a BEV.

If EV buyers settle on a home charger, they can head over to the website and get the setup sorted out. However, if they elect to take the credits and charge on the go, they can download the app, which will help them find Free2move chargers and allow them to pay using the app.

Free2move Charge app will provide access to more than 75,000 charge ports across the U.S., with infrastructure expanding through 2024, Stellantis noted.
