Hyundai Elantra TCR Edition Gets Big Wing, Race Ready Styling

by | November 18, 2024

Hyundai Elantra TCR Edition beats Subaru to the punch with a big wing and other race-ready accents for those who want to channel their inner race car driver.

Hyundai is raising the performance bar slightly with all-new Elantra N TCR Edition.

Hyundai’s Elantra N has always been the wild child in the affordable performance car segment. The spunky Hyundai walks the line between value and performance and combines an impressive amount of performance and technology with an untouched value especially when you consider how track ready the Elantra N is right out of the box.

But what if you’re a buyer who wants an Elantra N that takes the track-ready look up a notch while also beating Subaru to the punch when it comes to adding a big wing to the rear of the car. If this sounds like you, Hyundai has unveiled the long-awaited answer to your prayers, the 2024 Elantra N TCR Edition.

Big wing headlines TCR Edition changes

The calling card of this model is the large carbon fiber rear wing.

With the bulk of the Elantra N being mostly carried over unchanged, the TCR Edition focuses on visual pizazz with the rear of the car getting a large carbon fiber rear wing. The wing is the visual highlight of the package and is not only lightweight but is also fully adjustable to help dial in the maximum amount of performance needed for a hard track day.

The big wing is also accompanied by 19-inch black alloy wheels which helps shed some extra pounds. N Performance monoblock brakes are also standard and buyers in South Korea even have access to a wild graphics package that’s derived from the design seen on some of Hyundai’s formal TCR race cars. The interior gets an Alcantara-covered steering wheel, special badging, and other minor visual enhancements.

South Korea to get it first

South Korea will get it first but the new model will be a welcome halo model for the Elantra family.

The Hyundai Elantra N TCR Edition will eventually make its way to the U.S. but the South Korean home market will get it first with buyers there getting it in December. The rest of the world will get their chance to own one next year with pricing potentially commanding a premium over the $35,100 Hyundai wants for a base manual-equipped N.

While the TCR Edition’s upgrades are more for show versus providing major function improvements, rumors suggest that the next-generation Elantra N could trade the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder for a bigger 2.5-liter engine. Hyundai has not commented on these rumors but in the meantime look for the TCR Edition to be the new halo offering in the Elantra family with the big wing also being a potent conversation starter when the TCR Edition is cruising through town.
