Kia Officially Unveils Production Version of EV4

by | February 17, 2025

Kia shows off the production version of the EV4 as the company prepares to bring its EV technology to mainstream buyers in an attempt to expand demand of their growing lineup of vehicles.

Kia is preparing to go after mainstream buyers with the introduction of the production version of the EV4.

It was over a year ago that Kia first revealed the EV4. At the time, it appeared as a concept but Kia said that the EV4 would be part of a new wave of EVs that would allow the Korean auto giant to appeal to buyers who want to get in on EVs but might have been priced out by models like the EV9 and the slightly smaller EV6 with brand reps also confirming the EV4 would play a key role in appealing to these buyers.

The company has now rolled out the production version of the EV4 as it continues to go all-in on EVs despite changing market conditions and reduced demand for EVs as a whole which has forced many automakers to rethink the way that they are approaching this segment with Kia being one of the few outliers that’s still moving full-speed ahead on all-electric offerings.

Show car styling for any occasion

The EV4 will be available as a sedan or hatchback and will be the first of KIa’s EVs to appeal to budget-minded consumers.

When viewed alongside the concept, the production version of the EV4 is a near duplicate of the showcar. The only major differences are the mirrors and the doors with Kia outfitting the production version with regular side mirrors and flush door handles. Otherwise, the car retains much of the original concept’s identity with the front end getting vertically placed head and running lights with the grille panel also adopting a more aggressive look. Two bodystyles will be available with the sedan getting a sloping rear roofline that’s reminiscent of the defunct Kia Stinger but the blunt trunk shows off its budget-friendly roots. Meanwhile, the hatchback variant goes for a more functional look but it wears its shape well and it’s just as stylish as the sedan.

Kia didn’t reveal any images of the interior in its release, but look for the cabin to also carry over the showcar’s styling with the concept’s cabin suggesting it would be a blend of style and comfort. Expect some changes to be made here as well but unlike the exterior, the cabin’s changes will focus on making the space easier to produce at the factory with some features being borrowed from other Kia EV models.

When is it coming to the U.S.?

Kia chose to keep key information about the EV4 close to the vest incuding powertrain specs and whether it will be coming to the United States.

The other unanswered question is whether the EV4 will be coming to the United States or not? The EV4 would give Kia another model to sell with the model being sold potentially above the EV3 CUV. This duo would give the brand a potent hand to play in the small EV market and would allow KIa to expand its dragnet to appeal to a wider range of customers.

Kia confirmed it will be fully unveiling the EV4 on February 24th during its 2025 Kia EV Day event in Tarraonga, Spain. Three days after that, Kia will reveal the full technical specifications of the EV which will answer some lingering questions about what kind of battery pack and powertrains the EV will bring to the table when it goes on sale. In addition to the EV4, reports say the company will also unveil a smaller EV2 model at the event but look for it to be an international market exclusive with little chance of coming to the U.S.
