Despite the pictures of Jaguar’s Type 00 concept leaking before the debut, the all-electric vision provided the iconic British brand with a chance to make a statement. And while Jaguar officials seem confident about this new direction, it’s clear it will take others longer to share that confidence.
“A Jaguar should be a copy of nothing,” said Sir William Lyons, Jaguar’s founder. And while that was never more true than with the unveiling of the E-type in 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show, as time has gone on, the company’s products have become more and more … mainstream looking.
The new concept, which is part of a much larger marketing effort, sets the stage for a vehicle the world was hoping to see: an all-electric four-door GT-style performance sedan that will be revealed late in 2025. However, it seems Jaguar’s leadership wants us all to know, change will be the brand’s new constant.
“At our very best, we have never conformed,” said Gerry McGovern, Jaguar’s chief creative officer, during the debut of the Type 00 in Miami on Monday night. “The leaper is always leaping forward, never backward.”
Blue and Pink
The reveal showed off two versions of the Type 00: one in London Blue and the other in Miami Pink. It is the Miami Pink model that seems to have tongues wagging. Introducing the concepts and the new focus on “Exuberant Modernism” during Miami Art Week sets a tone for what’s to come.
“In Miami, Jaguar brand’s transformation into an electric‑only brand with an elevated family of highly desirable and exclusive new luxury vehicles continues. This transition extends beyond the products Jaguar designs and engineers; it represents a reimagination of the entire brand,” the company noted.
The Type 00 isn’t really much like the first vehicle expected to come during this new era of progressive design from the British automaker. It’s a bold look with its long hood and low, sweeping roof gives it an almost art deco feel, which really suits much of Miami’s architecture. However, it also gives the car a beefy look and feel that is part muscle car and part electric vehicle.
Its fastback profile helps with drag, but its 23-inch alloy wheels suggest unbridled performance. The flush surfaces of the rest of the exterior, massive tailgate that features the leaper — and no glass — offers a sense of sculpture.
What’s to come
While no one got a look at the first road-ready model that will be born out of this new design mantra, there have been some who have claimed to have seen early versions of the forthcoming GT model and the message from all of them could best be summarized as “Don’t worry.”
Regardless, it will lead Jaguar into a new era, using a new dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture, officials noted. Additionally, it’s projected to have a range of 430 miles on a full charge and be able to add 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes using a DC rapid charger.
Officials added only that the new GT model will make its debut in late 2025 as a 2026 model. No pricing was offered, and the only hint about design came from the acknowledgment of a four-door GT model.
“The latest electrification technologies and awe‑inspiring designs will make future Jaguar vehicles stand out in an increasingly homogenous EV market,” the company noted.

More than the car
The brand is looking to inspire change in more than just swoopy exterior lines or unique materials — such as travertine veneer used in the Type 00 — and colors. The future focuses on three words: exuberant, modernist and compelling.
The exuberance comes from vibrant, uninhibited fearless colors, designs and more. The modnernist push is a reminder to be respectful of Jaguar’s past, not bound to it. Finally, the compelling component calls for a holistic approach to generate “meaningful” connections with future Jaguar buyers.
For some, Jaguar will come to life in a select number of exclusive brand stores for clients around the world. These environments will present an immersive step into the world of Jaguar, the company noted, embracing their setting and local culture and be complemented by a wider global network of luxury retailers.
Jaguar’s first new brand store will be in the heart of the luxury fashion district of Paris, in the 8th arrondissement.
Future vehicle changes
Some of that comes from design changes you see on the Type 00 and may see on future vehicles, include Jaguar’s signature. “A celebration of modernism,” the new letters spelling out the name Jaguar are geometric letter forms rotated to create perfect visual symmetry.
The big updates come with the maker’s marks, starting with the leaper. It will remain in an updated form. Clearly as McGovern’s comments note, it’s a reminder to continue to progress, not fall behind.
The strikethrough on the rear is tough to miss. The bold linear graphic generates an unmistakable presence and an immediately recognizable visual for Jaguar, wherever the brand appears. Meanwhile, the striking use of color is a cornerstone of Jaguar brand’s new brand identity, embedded in its association with art. It will always be presented with texture or movement.
