Infiniti provides a glimpse into its brand revitalization with 2025 QX80. Flagship SUV will spearhead broader revitalization effort to bring the brand back into prominence.
The luxury vehicle market has always been a hotly contested battleground for many automakers and the introduction of EVs into the segment has made this space even more important. The one brand that has been noticeably absent from the spotlight is Infiniti.
Nissan’s luxury brand has been struggling in recent years not only with slumping sales but also a rapidly aging lineup that’s falling behind the pace of rivals. Infiniti is looking to change its fortunes with the 2025 QX80 which will be the spearhead of the brand’s broader revitalizing efforts moving forward.
Infiniti revamps QX80 for 2025
The current generation QX80 is a prime example of how Infiniti’s lineup has aged badly against rivals with this iteration of the SUV making its inaugural debut way back in 2010. It has had two facelifts along the way that added modern interior technology and freshness to the exterior styling, but they could only do so much to hide its old architecture and the aging hardware that came with it.
The 2025 Infiniti QX80 changes all that by getting new exterior styling that borrows plenty of traits from the QX80 Monograph concept. The split-style LED
headlights for example are lifted from the concept while the cool Piano Key style DRLs are also derived from the Monograph too.
One of Infiniti’s teaser images also confirms the model will be debuting a new range-topping “Autograph” trim which might replace the Sensory trim as the range-topper in the QX80 family and often serves as the most expensive trim level in other Infiniti models.
Other details include flush-mounted door handles, an illuminated emblem in the front grille, and reworked taillights.

Keeping some things secret
Infiniti didn’t share any images of the interior but the space will be heavily revamped for 2025 with a new infotainment system, revamped materials, and a 24-speaker Klipsch premium audio system that the brand showed off at CES.
These upgrades would allow the QX80 to be on par with other flagship SUVs and make it look fresh in the eyes of younger buyers. A twin-turbocharged V6 is also rumored to be replacing the antiquated and thirsty 5.6-liter V8 that powers the outgoing model to help increase the SUV’s fuel economy somewhat.
QX80 preview of what’s to come
Infiniti’s choice to start its revival off with the QX80 was no accident, with the model providing a preview of what’s in store for other Infiniti models. The brand has stated in the past that SUV and CUV models will power its future moving forward and while that means the Q50 sedan will eventually be retired, their utility vehicle lineup will benefit from some of the 2025 QX80’s DNA.
It might be a bit hard to see how at first thanks to the AI-generated digital pattern camo wrap that was created by Japanese digital generative artist Kaoru Tanaka. Tanaka chose to not use the swirl pattern that’s commonplace in other cam wraps and instead used Infiniti’s own color palette to create a distinct pattern that not only hides key details from prying eyes but also builds on the “Artistry in Motion” design language that will define future Infiniti models moving forward including electric models that will eventually replace all of their ICE offerings in Infiniti showrooms.
The 2025 Infiniti QX80 will be making its digital debut on March 20th with the Japanese luxury brand promising more teasers over the next few weeks that will reveal more details about the SUV as it lays down the groundwork for one of its most important vehicle launches ever.
