German sports car maker Porsche’s tease of “the most dynamic Taycan of all time” paid off March 11 with the debut of the Taycan Turbo GT and the track-ready Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package.
The two new iterations of the Taycan put out more than 1,000 horsepower, however, there is an additional 120 kW of power available for 10 seconds when pushing the button for Attack Mode, which is 50 kW more than other Taycan models.
The end result is a 0 to 62 mph time of 2.3 seconds for the new Turbo GT. That drops to 2.2 seconds with the Weissach package.
This makes the new model one- to two-tenths of a second faster than the Taycan Turbo S. The difference in acceleration from a standstill to 200 km/h is even greater: 6.6 or 6.4 seconds for the Taycan Turbo GT without/with Weissach package, which is up to 1.3 seconds quicker than the Taycan Turbo S. The top speed it about 189 mph.
Porsche officials say the Turbo GT will travel about 345 miles on a full charge, but that’s using Europe’s WLTP standard, which equates to about 300 to 310 miles using the EPA metric, which is closer to real-world results.
“The Turbo GT with Weissach package sets new standards in almost every metric,” said Porsche development driver Lars Kern. “These include acceleration and braking, an Attack Mode that’s intuitive to use and a powertrain designed for maximum traction and performance. And the cornering grip levels are just as impressive. The controllability and light-footedness are unbelievable.”
New speed king
To make the new Turbo GT the fastest Taycan, the company’s engineers focused on a few things. First, they made it as light as possible, which loosely translated means more carbon fiber. Engineeers used it on the B-pillars, the shells for the side mirrors, the side skirt inlays and other places.
They also keep the car glued to the road with GT-specific tuning of the Porsche Active Ride suspension. The car rides on 21-inch lightweight forged wheels, which has relief-milled spokes bringing additional weight savings while improving ventilation for the brakes.
The brakes are lightweight ceramics. Design changes to the brake disc chamber and the brake calliper housing shave off more than two kilograms. This has a positive effect on both the driving dynamics and performance: reducing the unsprung and rotating masses enhances performance, officials noted. In all, Porsche removes 75 kg or 165 pounds from the car.
Finally, the improved the aerodynamics of the car with a Turbo GT-specific front spoiler with aeroblades, as well as an adaptive spoiler on the back that features a — surprise! — carbon fiber Gurney flap on the tear off edge.

Track tested
Porsche’s spent part of the last two months putting the new battery-electric model to the test by running it around Laguna Seca Feb. 23, where Kern piloted the Weissach package model to a new single lap record for EVs on the track.
Prior to that, a pre-production version of this same new model set a new class record on the Nürburgring. Kern was also at the wheel on that occasion and posted a lap time of 7:07.55 min. on the Nordschleife. This official lap time is 26 seconds faster than Kern recorded for his last record lap in a Taycan Turbo S Sport sedan equipped with the performance package back in August 2022.
“The two records in Laguna Seca and on the Nordschleife show what great track potential there is in the Taycan,” said Model Line Vice President Kevin Giek. “To prove your mettle on the track, it’s not enough to simply have as much power as possible.
“The overall package of accelerating and braking, cornering grip, aerodynamics, stability and fine-tuning has to be right. In the Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package in particular, our engineers have achieved this in absolutely stunning fashion. They have already done a great job with the recently updated existing Taycan models. But our new GT cars yet again clearly raise the bar even higher in terms of driving dynamics.”
Way fast Weissach
What’s the Weissach package, you ask? Well, first of all, it dispenses with the rear seats to improve power-to-weight ratio over the regular Turbo GT. Also it takes the aerodynamics and lightweighting to the next level.
The additional aerodynamics measures include air deflector elements on the underbody and a new front diffuser. In the rear, the Weissach package features a fixed rear wing in a carbon-weave finish with wing supports fixed to the body. The total downforce here is up to 485 pounds, or 220 kg.
Next, anything not needed to race — like the rear seats mentioned above — is removed to save another 70 kg or 154 pounds. The Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package only has a charge port door on the passenger side, which is operated manually instead of electrically. Special sound- and heat-insulating glass and the Sound Package Plus also save weight. The latter does without rear speakers and replaces the Bose Surround Sound system, Porsche notes.
The Taycan trio
The new 2025 Taycan sedan and Cross Turismo models are available to order now and expected to reach U.S. Porsche Centers in the course of the summer in 2024, the company noted.
The base model only has five digits — before the $1,995 destination fee anyway — coming in at $99,400. There are eight possible ways to order your 2025 Taycan with the price topping out at $210,995, including the destination fee, for the Taycan Turbo S.
Pricing and a delivery time wasn’t made available on the Turbo GT or Turbo GT Weissach package.
