Honda Updates Civic Si For 2025

by | July 23, 2024

The 2025 Honda Civic Si is taking an early bow ahead of the upcoming model year and it introduces an unusually extensive list of changes for what would normally be a mid-cycle “refresh,” with an assortment of new features, more standard equipment, new technology and, of course, the requisite tweaks to the front fascia and grille.

We’ll have to wait for a chance to drive the 2025 Honda Civic Si to see if it’s really “the most fun-to-drive” version “ever,” but one thing is clear: the sporty little sedan gets far more of a midlife update than you’d normally expect.

There are the de rigueur cosmetic tweaks to the exterior, of course. But there are also new tech features, such as the Google built-in operating system and a standard digital instrument cluster. Honda also claims to have enhanced the Si’s dynamics and ride comfort.

One thing hasn’t changed, however, and it remains the only model in its segment                                                                offered exclusively with a manual transmission.

What’s new for 2025

The 2025 Honda Civic Si gets a new 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster. Meanwhile, the 9-inch touchscreen now runs on the Google built-in system.

The most obvious changes can be found up front where the 2025 Honda Civic Si gets a “more aggressive” front fascia and a new hex-pattern grille. There are updated taillights and new 18-inch Si-specific alloy wheels done up in matte black. The Si also gets the Urban Gray Pearl paint option offered on other Civic trims.

The interior changes are minor and essentially limited to the instrument panel where the 2025 Civic Si adds a new, fully digital instrument cluster with an integrated LED Shift Light Indicator. The infotainment system, also migrates to the Google built-in operating system. Heated front seats also return and are now offered as standard gear.

Tweaks to the tuning of the sedan’s suspension, meanwhile, are meant to enhance both handling and ride comfort.

The 2025 Civic Si carries over Honda’s 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo-4, here mated exclusively to a 6-speed manual transmission.

“Civic Si is a performance icon in the sport compact segment, and the 2025 Civic Si continues that legacy as the most fun-to-drive Si we’ve ever offered to our customers,” said Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda Auto Sales, American Honda Motor Co.

The Si’s powertrain carries over from the 2024 model. It features a 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo-4 making 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through a quick-shifting 6-speed manual gearbox to the front wheels through a standard helical limited-slip differential.

To put power to the pavement, the Si comes with 235/40R18 all-season performance tires, though buyers can opt for summer tires, if they prefer. To scrub off speed when pushing the limits, the 2025 Civic Si features larger brakes than the standard Civic sedan.

A 10.2-inch all-digital gauge cluster is now standard on the Civic Si. But the sedan also gets an upgrade to its infotainment system, Honda migrating to the Google built-in system. Its voice assistant can be activated simply by saying, “Hey, Google.” The system adds features like Google Play for music, podcasts and audiobooks. And when a destination is programmed into Google Maps, directions will display in the new digital instrument cluster.

Buyers need be aware, however, that the Google tech is a pay system – though it comes with a 3-year unlimited data plan on new Si models.

The 9-inch touchscreen atop the center stack also can be used to operate both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2025 Civic Si also gets an upgraded version of the Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver assistance systems. Among other things, its forward-looking radar now can spot pedestrians and bicyclists.
