Chrysler Planning New Car and SUV Based On Halcyon Concept

by | January 9, 2025

A new report suggests that struggling Chrysler might pull a rabbit out of its hat with a new report suggesting the brand is getting a new car and SUV based on the Halcyon concept.

Chrysler Halcyon Concept

Chrysler confirms it’s developing two new vehicles based on the Halcyon concept car.

Stellantis and its dizzying array of brands can be a very daunting thing for customers to look at when they are shopping for a new vehicle. This large footprint gives buyers plenty of choice but it also leaves some brands out in the cold when it comes to getting attention. One of them is Chrysler which has been limping along on life support for the past several years. The lineup is now reduced to the Pacifica minivan and its budget-minded cousin the Voyager a far cry from a few decades ago when Chrysler brand had a more compelling lineup of vehicles including the Chrysler 300 and the smaller Chrysler 200.

This sorry state of affairs appears to finally be changing with a new report suggesting Chrysler is planning to build two new vehicles based on the Halcyon concept as it attempts to show why it deserves to stick around in Stellantis’s good graces.

Halcyon signals a dynamic future for Chrysler

The interior of the Chrysler Halcyon Concept is an immersive environment and look for both the car and SUV versions of the concept to maintain the same basic atmosphere.

The confirmation came from Chrysler CEO Christine Feuell who revealed the brand has two new vehicles under development based on the futuristic Halcyon concept, a car and an SUV. While the car would be a nod to Chrysler’s history and perhaps be a production version of the Halcyon concept itself, the SUV will be expected to be a strong seller for Chrysler with this model being placed in a segment of the vehicle market that’s still a hotly contested battleground for many automakers. It’ll still have its roots in the Halcyon though to help the brand create a distinct visual identity.

A separate report by CNBC reveals the SUV would launch in 2026 with the model being available either as a hybrid or an EV hinting that Chrysler and Stellantis as a whole are preparing a new wave of hybrid models to address slumping demand and decreasing sales for EVs  Feuell said in the interview the company is working to bring the Halcyon “to market in a real industrialized form that’s affordable for customers as well.”

Refresh is coming for Pacifica

2025 Chrysler Voyager

A refresh is coming for the Pacifica minivan in 2026 but it remains to be seen if it will be extended to the Voyager too.

In addition to the Halcyon flavored models it’s working on, Feuell also said the aging Pacifica will get a refresh for 2026 with the model not only getting a new exterior design, but also an improved hybrid system to help boost that model’s fuel economy though it remains to be seen if this treatment will be extended to the Voyager or if that model will even stick around. A battery-electric version is supposedly in the works too but it remains to be seen when that model will enter production.

These new vehicles will be key for Chrysler as it attempts to prove its worth to Stellantis after years of crumbling sales and moribund demand for the few vehicles it has left in its shrunken lineup.
