Ford Launches F-150 Lobo “Street Truck”

Ford rolls out a sporty new take on F-150 pickup specifically designed for the street. Lowered and offered only with a 400-hp V-8, it becomes the second Ford truck to adopt the Lobo badge. Here’s more on the new Ford F-150 Lobo.

We’ve seen a flood of new products aimed at those who want to travel the trails lately, including Ford’s brutal F-150 Raptor R package. But what about those who want a mean machine for day-to-day driving.

That’s where the new F-150 Lobo comes in. Drawing its name from the Spanish word for “wolf,” this new street truck has been lowered, given new ground effects and is powered exclusively by the automaker’s 400-horspower 5.0-liter V-8.

It’s the second Ford model bearing the Lobo badge, following the recent launch of a Maverick Lobo package. And there’s speculation that, like the Raptor and Tremor trims, we could see street truck versions of other Ford models going forward.

There’s been a lot of interest in off-roading in recent years. But plenty of folks will never challenge anything rougher than urban potholes. This is the Street Truck for them, said Ford. The 2025 F-150 Lobo harkens back to the old (non-electric) SVT Lightning, while borrowing its name from a version of the F-150 sold in the Mexican market three decades ago.

It’s not quite a distinct trim in its own right but an option package for the F-150 STX. Lobo is based around a SuperCrew body and will only be offered with Ford’s beefy 5.0-liter V-8. The engine’s guttural roar is clearly part of the appeal.

The Lobo package has been lowered by two inches and given a 10-piece ground effects kit, while appropriately accented in black. It also features a unique grille and modified taillights, along with a dual-level LED light bar. A dual exhaust finished in black satin adds to the menacing appearance.

“Street truck culture is about looks and performance, and that’s where things got fun for us,” Ford designer Josh Blundo wrote on the automaker’s social media site.

No turbocharged EcoBoost engine hear. When you’re out to dominate the street, Ford planners determined, you want to hear a classic, guttural V-8. No surprise. That’s the same logic that has rival Stellantis bringing back its Hemi V-8 for the Ram 1500. That said, at 400 hp and 415 lb-ft, the 5.0-liter engine doesn’t come close to matching the Raptor R’s 720 hp made by a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8. Even the EcoBoost V-6 out-delivers at 450 hp.

The 5.0-liter engine is mated with a four-wheel-drive gearbox. And though the lower ground clearance would likely keep it from seeing much more than a gravel road, it still gets an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case.

The F-150 Lobo can handle up to 1,450 pounds of payload, and tow up to 7,900 lbs, Ford claims.

Pricing and Availability

Look for the F-150 Lobo to land in U.S. showrooms this coming autumn, according to Ford.

The package will start at $59,995, the automaker said – though all automotive pricing is subject to change due to the impact of the new Trump auto import tariffs. While assembled in the U.S., Lobo will use a number of foreign-made parts and components. At the current figure, it comes in $4,695 above the standard STX base price.

Don’t be surprised to hear the Lobo name repeated more frequently at Ford, several sources hinted. We saw the Blue Oval launch a version of the little Maverick pickup last autumn and few would be surprised to see a Ranger Lobo, as well. Considering the way Ford has been parsing its truck line-up with more and more dedicated trims and special packages, there might also be opportunity to bring out Lobo versions of some of its trucks and CUVs.
