While many Lamborghini owners put their foot down, they can now do it in style thanks to a new partnership.
Automobili Lamborghini and Tod’s have partnered to produce a men’s and women’s footwear collection based on the Tod’s Gommino as well as a sneaker offered in colors that draw their inspiration from both brands.
The new collection debuted at Pitti Uomo in Florence, Italy, among the most important show for men’s clothing and accessories.
The new line of the Gommino is reminiscent of the livery of Lamborghini’s sports cars, with tubular banding that adds movement to its overall design. The unique pebble shapes on the soles match the color of the upper and heel, and the leathers used are selected from the top tanneries in the world. The cutting and sewing of the Gommino’s leather are done by hand, a production process that demands a high level of skill.
To add to the allure of the new line of footwear, two Lamborghini Revueltos were on hand. The companies said the model was chosen to represent two worlds, gas and electric, much like the collaboration of Lamborghini and Tod’s.
Lamborghini’s newest model is a mid-engine plug-in electric hybrid that pairs an 814-horsepower 6.5-liter V-12 with three electric motors. Two of the motors power the front wheels, while the third is incorporated into the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to help power the rear axle.
It results in a combined output of 1,001 horsepower and a top speed of 218 mph. Rear-wheel steering system and a torque-vectoring helps make the most of the available horsepower.
The collaboration with Tod’s extends the Lamborghini name into lifestyle goods, a common tactic among high-end automakers. The footwear line is merely the first step, as the companies plan to expand the line to include leather goods and clothing collections. The shoes are now on sale.
