Genesis confirmed the GV60 Magma is entering production.

Genesis promised that its Magma performance sub-brand would rewrite the way Genesis buyers would think about their products. Magma models would not only bring distinct styling and a slick coat of orange paint to Genesis showrooms but also a higher degree of performance. But while the Magma brand talks a strong game, it’s had a slow start with the first model being a version of the G80 which was only sold in the Middle East.

That narrative is changing with the company not only confirming that the GV60 Magma is entering production but that it will appear sooner than some buyers realize with production scheduled to begin in the fall of 2025.

GV60 Magma a cousin of the Ioniq 5 N

Magma version will share core hardware with Hyundai Ioniq N but will also be a unique offering.

The exterior styling of the GV60 Magma concept carries over mostly unchanged from its last appearance with the concept not only getting a slick shade of orange paint but also a reworked front bumper, double-spoke alloy wheels, and a larger rear diffuser. Wheel arch extensions allowed engineers to fit bigger tires while beefier brakes help the concept come to a stop from higher speeds.

Genesis hasn’t revealed too much about the technical wizardry hidden beneath the concept’s stylish body, but look for the Magma to have the same electrified hardware as its Ioniq N sibling with the production version being powered by a version of the N’s 641 hp electrified powertrain. However, we suspect that Genesis engineers will give the EV several distinct features to help it stand out from the Ioniq N while also giving Genesis buyers a better incentive to buy one versus going to Hyundai or other rivals for their EV performance fix.

The GV60 Magma will be making the hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed alongside other Genesis concepts.

The GV60 Magma Concept will be making the hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and it will be joined by several other concepts that Genesis will be bringing to the event including the G80 EV Concept, the GV80 Coupe Concept, and the G70 Track Taxi Nordschleife. The appearance of all of these concepts is also sending a strong message to rivals like BMW and Audi with Genesis preparing to flex its muscles in the growing EV performance vehicle segment.

As for the GV60 Magma, it will enter production in the Fall of 2025 with Genesis releasing key details closer to its official debut. That includes the final pricing ladder with the GV60 Magma potentially commanding a sizable premium over the Ioniq N when the two are compared side by side in that particular category. The GV60 will also serve as the launch point for the Magma lineup too with Genesis making similar versions for some of its other models over the next few years.
