Ford Slashes Price – Again – for 2025 Mustang Mach-E

by | October 22, 2024

Hoping to charge up sales of the Mustang Mach-E, Ford will cut the price by as much as $6,000 for the 2025 version of the all-electric crossover. That’s on top of a handful of other changes, including a revised shifter, a new Sport Appearance Package and upgraded BlueCruise technology.

The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E adds a new Sport Appearance Package.

Hoping to reverse a recent slump in sales, Ford has dropped the entry price of the 2025 Mustang Mach-E to $36,495 – before adding in a $1,995 delivery fee. That’s $3,500 less than what it was asking in 2024.

The price for other versions of the battery-electric crossover will be reduced by as much as $6,000.

And there are other reasons why potential buyers may want to check out the 2025 Mach-E. For one thing, it gets some slick new technology, including a more efficient heat pump, as well as the latest version of Ford’s hands-free BlueCruise technology. There’s a new Sport Appearance Package, and the rotary shifter on the center console has been replaced with a more traditional column shifter.

The big, $6,000 discount covers the Mustang Mach-E Rally package introduced earlier this year.

Ford has been cutting prices on its EV line-up this year to help boost demand. It appears it could use a bit of help, sales of the Mustang Mach-E tumbling by more than 41% last month to just 3,459 vehicles.

The cuts run the range of Mach-E variants, starting with the base Select package which will now come in at $36,495. That’s a $3,500 discount compared to the 2024 model.

At the upper end of the line-up, Ford has trimmed the price of the 2025 Mustang Mach-E Rally by $6,000. It now starts at $58,995 – before delivery fees. Introduced earlier this year, the Rally is designed, as the name implies, for rally-style driving, rather than full off-roading.

Ford is clearly hoping to steal some thunder from rival Tesla. It’s own base version of the Model Y currently goes for $44,490.

Changes for 2025 include a new column-mounted shifter.

Now entering its fifth year on the market, Mach-E so far has undergone a handful of design tweaks. The 2025 model year doesn’t bring any dramatic revisions but there are a few noteworthy updates:

  • Buyers get the option of a new Sport Appearance Package that can bring styling cues from the Mach-E GT to the Premium trim. These include a revised front fascia and grille, as well as red Brembo brake calipers. The package also includes 19-inch monochromatic high-gloss black painted wheels and, inside, new sport pedals and red accent stitching;
  • The rotary gear shifter mounted on the center console has never really clicked with customers, especially those buying the sporty Mach-E GT. The shifter has been moved in 2025 crossovers to the column, more like the classic Mustang coupe;
  • Ford also adds three new colors, Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Velocity Blue Metallic, and Desert Sand, along with three new wheel options.

BlueCruise gets smarter

The Ford BlueCruise system’s v1.5 upgrade now allows Mach-E drivers to execute automated passes.

Ford continues to expand the availability of its hands-free BlueCruise system, while offering upgrades, on products like the Mach-E that already offer the technology.

One of the most notable improvements is the system’s ability to now change lanes to pass a slower vehicle “without driver input,” according to Ford. The automatic lane change function should kick in on “up to 45% of lane changes on an average drive, based on internal testing.”

Ford claims it also has been expanding the number of miles on which BlueCruise can be used though, at something north of 100,000 miles of limited-access highways, it lags behind General Motors’ competing Super Cruise. The GM system now also operates on some two-lane roads.
