The GR Supra’s been a staple in Toyota’s stable of GR performance cars since then-CEO Akio Toyoda introduced it in 2019. In its six years after its debut, the MkV generation has been delighting go-fast fans while meeting the high standards of “Morizo,” Toyoda’s racing alter ego.

The 2026 GR Supra MkV Final Edition was introduced at the Grand Prix of Long Beach, but New York auto show attendees will get a look at the racer as well. It features specially optimized tuning, better brakes, increased body rigidity as well as several suspension updates to improve its overall performance.

The updates improve the vehicle’s road feel. Some of the suspension changes include updates to the camber angle to improve cornering stability. The car also received some aero updates making it slipperier and creating more downforce to keep the GR Supra glued to the road.

In addition to improving the ride and handling, the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder that powers the car gets a performance enhancement. The result is a zero-to-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds with the 8-speed automatic. It rises to 4.2 seconds driving the manual model.

The autos have a manufacturer-estimated 22 city/29 highway/25 combined fuel economy rating helped in part by standard start/stop technology, which shuts the engine off while the car is stopped, Toyota officials noted.

“The AT allows drivers to focus on the throttle and braking — opening up the possibilities for a thrilling time while driving,” Toyota officials noted.

The manual features an Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) programmed with software that prioritizes performance. When upshifting, it optimizes engine torque at the moment of clutch engagement and release.

On downshifts, the software includes rev-matching for consistent performance. The iMT is set as the default, but, if the driver prefers, it can be switched off in Individual Mode. The 2026 GR Supra is expected to arrive at Toyota Dealerships in Spring 2025. No pricing was revealed.
