Volkswagen previewed the production version of its all-electric ID. EVERY1, a small, affordable EV, comparing it to the Beetle. The new model, which is slated to arrive in 2027, will cost about $21,500, officials noted. They also revealed nine new models will hit showrooms by 2027, including four new EVs.

Volkswagen rolled out the production version of its all-electric ID. EVERY1 small, affordable car, comparing it to the Beetle.
The EVERY1 is based on VW’s new front-wheel drive MEB architecture. So despite its small stature, the architecture allows for plenty of space inside the cabin, expanding upon one of the advantages of EVs: interior room.
Not only is the new ID. EVERY1, which the automaker’s been teasing for months, designed to be affordable, but VW is also hoping its design will approach the appeal of the aforementioned Beetle.
“Our ambition was to create something bold yet accessible,” said Volkswagen Head of Design Andreas Mindt in a statement.
“The ID. EVERY1 has a self-assured appearance but remains likeable, thanks to details such as the dynamic front lights and the ‘smiling’ rear. These design elements make it more than just a car: they give it character and an identity that people can relate to.”
What do you get
When it comes to EVs small and cute generally means “compromised” in some way, and, unfortunately, the ID. EVERY1 does have one: range. The new model will travel about 155 miles on a full charge, according to VW.
The concept vehicle reaches a top speed of 81 mph and is powered by a newly developed electric drive motor with 94 horsepower (70kW). The new EV is 152.8 inches long, and on the inside has room for four passengers and offers 10.8 cubic feet of luggage space. So clearly this is a city car ideal for running errands, including grocery shopping.
Additionally, the new model features a new software architecture that not only allows for simply over-the-air updates, but also new functions entirely. The vehicle could end up being a much different car at the end of its lifespan than it was at the beginning.
Officials note the ID. EVERY1 isn’t going to accommodate all types of driving, the point of the vehicle is to sell a vehicle most people can afford and use for everyday living.
“For future models, we talk about Customer Defined Vehicles. The ID. EVERY1 shows that we are putting our customers, their wishes, interests and preferences at the center of vehicle development more consistently than ever,” said Kai Grünitz, member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management responsible for Development.

The ID. 2all will be launched as early as 2026 with a price tag just under $27,000. Both models are part of VW’s new Electric Urban Car Family with front-wheel drive, which is being developed under the umbrella of the Core brand group within the Volkswagen Group.
VW also mentioned the ID. Concept GTI, dubbed the “sporty sibling” of the ID. 2all, is on track and will be part of the new Electric Urban Car Family. However, no additional details were provided about the car.
Happy employees
VW also provided details about its “Future Volkswagen” agreement struck with its workers in December. The idea behind the plan is to give everyone a road map for the company’s future endeavors.
It was broken down into three phases:
- Catch up: Strengthen competitiveness and expand the existing model range in a targeted manner. Coming next, the Volkswagen brand will give a further preview of the new Electric Urban Car Family in the Fall of 2025.
- Attack: There will be nine new models by 2027 including the production version of the ID.2all for less than €25,000 and the ID. EVERY1 for about €20,000.
- Lead: Volkswagen aims to become the technologically leading high-volume manufacturer with the safest, most innovative and best-selling cars by 2030.
