Kia brings minor changes and pricing changes to the 2025 Kia Sportage in an attempt to keep the model fresh in a sea of tightening competition. Tweaks to options and the pricing ladder attempt to maintain the Sportage’s path to success.
Kia’s Sportage SUV is continuing to be a hit for the company with its blend of styling and technology resonating nicely with customers. However, the company knows that evolution and constant updates are key to help it stay ahead in the hotly contested mid-size SUV segment.
With the Sportage being revamped not too long ago, the company is taking it easy with updates for the 2025 model year with the Sportage seeing minor changes to its pricing ladder and some revisions to its optional equipment in response to feedback from customers.
Sportage gets minor revisions to its optional equipment
Buyers looking to spot any changes on the 2025 Sportage will have to get a magnifying glass to spot some of the minor changes that Kia gave the Sportage for the new model year. The base ICE and hybrid models now get an EX package that features a new Premium Package. This premium package adds a panoramic sunroof and a smart liftgate to the Sportage but LKia didn’t reveal how much it will charge for it. Meanwhile, a new dark package adds black accents for the front and rear bumpers, side sills, and badging with X-Line models expanding the treatment to the alloy wheels.
Pricing gets bumped up too
In addition to the revisions to the Sportage’s optional equipment, Kia also revised the pricing ladder for the 2025 Sportage, and while pricing does go up for the most part, it’s clear that Kia is still trying to maintain the Sportage’s role as a value player in the segment. Performance hardware is unchanged
Performance for the 2025 Sportage will continue to come from two engines with the non-hybrid model being powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 178 hp and 187 lb-ft of torque. Hybrid models get a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that’s paired with an electric motor to produce 227 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The PHEV still gets a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder but more advanced hybrid components bump power up to 261 hp and also allow the SUV to get 34 miles of all-electric driving range.
