Mitsubishi promises updated Outlander will be a better SUV as the company prepares to shift its electrification plans into high gear following the recent confirmation of a new alliance between Nissan, Honda, and Mitsubishi that will enhance EV development.
The Mitsubishi Outlander continues to be one of the best models in the company’s vehicle lineup with the SUV benefitting from some of the new technology that the company got access to when Nissan purchased a large stake in the company several years ago. This influx of new technology has helped the Outlander become a strong sales force for the brand and it’s allowing a wider range of buyers to enter the brand for the first time ever.
The company knows that momentum and evolution are needed to help keep the Outlander on the right track and the company has released the first taser image of the updated 2025 Outlander which will make its debut this fall.
Updated styling and new tech make Outlander sharper than ever
Mitsubishi’s shadowy teaser images don’t reveal too much about the SUV itself, but the exterior styling will retain alot of the outgoing model’s core formula but with minor revisions including improved headlights as well as a tweaked front grille and new wheel designs with the company saying that “it has evolved to a more refined and sophisticated face.” The rear bumper is also expected to be freshened and it’s clear that Mitsubishi is attempting to add more refinement to the SUV after using its debut to emphasize its sporty demeanor.
A new paint color called Moonstone Grey will also make its debut with Mitsubishi saying that the color has hints of blue in it that reveal themselves when the light hits it. Unfortunately, Mitsubishi is making us wait a bit longer to see how visually effective it is but we hope that it’s worth the wait especially if it adds an extra pinch of style to the SUV. The interior is also expected to get more luxurious features including a 12-speaker Yamaha Dynamic Sound Ultimate Premium sound system as well as a bigger infotainment screen.

Outlander PHEV to get performance upgrades
Mitsubishi didn’t reveal too much information about any potential performance improvements for the standard model. However, a prominent exception was the PHEV model with the company claiming that this model will get several upgrades including a bigger battery pack that boosts driving range with the pack itself also having the ability to be an external power source for appliances and other gear. Mitsubishi says this feature will be useful during disasters but expect the bulk of Outlander buyers to also use the feature during camping trips and cookouts.
If this capability sounds familiar, that’s because the Ford F-150 Lightning pickup has a similar feature with the aforementioned truck making headlines when Lightning owners used their vehicles to power household appliances and other gear in the aftermath of the ice storms in Texas.
I would like to see Mitsubishi Motors return to the UK, always had a dedicated following, and their L100 pick up truck was a market leader for years, and very reliable.
