Acura Updates RDX for 2025

by | August 7, 2024

Acura is updating one of its best-selling product lines for the upcoming model year, with a mix of styling and technology enhancements. Here’s a first look at the 2025 Acura RDX.

Sales of the Acura RDX are up 25% this year.

It’s that time of year when automakers begin rolling out their updated products for the upcoming model year – and Acura’s no exception.

There’s good reason the upscale arm of Honda Motor Co. is spotlighting the updated RDX considering it outsells all other models in the line-up but for the bigger MDX flagship. Demand for the RDX jumped 25% over last year.

While this is a classic “mid-cycle refresh,” as industry planners like to say, the  2025 Acura RDX does gets some tweaks worth noting, including updates to its familiar Diamond Pentagon grille and new wheel. Inside, there’s more storage and bigger cupholders. There are also some improvements to the crossover/SUV’s infotainment system, including a new wide-screen mode.

What’s new

The 2025 Acura RDX gets an updated Diamond Pentagon grille but retains its distinctive front lighting.

“This is the most premium RDX we’ve ever made,” said Mike Langel, assistant vice president, Acura National Sales. “Our Acura performance SUV lineup has never been stronger as we continue to deliver on our commitment to advancing Precision Crafted Performance throughout the Acura lineup.”

From a visual standpoint, the 2025 Acura RDX doesn’t stray far from the outgoing model – but buyers will spot a few revisions meant to bring it more in line with the latest Acura design theme. That starts with a new “frameless” take on the RDX Diamond Pentagon Grille.

All versions of the RDX also get sportier wheel designs, starting with standard Berlina Black 19-inch wheels. The various A-Spec packages get 20-inch wheels and new blacked-out exterior treatment.

Tech updates include a new widescreen mode when using wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Across the line-up, Acura claims, the focus was on “improved form and function,” starting with a new center console offering increased storage, larger cupholders and “easier access” to the standard wireless smartphone charger.

The top-line RDX with Advance Package and the A-Spec with Advance Package now get full leather upholstery and improved ambient lighting.

The big focus has been on technology, however. The standard 10.2-inch infotainment screen now gets a new wide-screen mode when using standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. RDX is available with a 16-speaker, 710-watt ELS Studio 3D audio system.

A new center console offers more storage space – and larger cupholders.

For 2025 Acura carries over the RDX’s turbocharged 2.0-liter VTEC I-4 engine. It’s one of the most powerful in its segment, making 272 horsepower and 282 pound-feet of torque.

The engine is paired with a sport-tuned 10-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels. The Acura Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive, or SH-AWD, system is rear-biased, sending 70% of its torque to the back axle under optimum conditions. It is capable of torque vectoring – directing power to the outer back wheel to enhance cornering.

An adaptive damping system is available for 2025 and offers three different driver-adjustable settings.

Pricing and availability

The 2025 Acura RDX will continue to be assembled at an assembly plant in East Liberty, Ohio alongside the bigger MDX SUV. Its engine and transmission are also produced in Ohio.

Look for the 2025 Acura RDX to begin arriving in U.S. showrooms later this month.

Pricing has not been announced for the updated SUV but the outgoing 2024 model starts at $51,500 and tops out at $74,695 depending on the trim and options.
