When the GMC Hummer EV Truck rolled out a few years back, the industry really hadn’t seen anything like it. It was big and burly, yet nimble and fast. And it was all-electric offering up eye-popping horsepower and torque numbers, as well as speed times. Now, the brand’s improved upon the first entry just in time for the 2026 model year.

The company’s taken some of the best attributes — or at least best liked ones — and amplified them for the new model year.
Using new software, the new Hummer EV features King Crab off-road rear-steer mode and improved acceleration with GMC Hummer EV Carbon Fiber Edition Pickup offers racing from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, which is two-tenths of a second faster than the previous best. Additionally, the new King Crab mode is available over-the-air to all Hummer EV owners as a bonus later this year, the company noted.
“The refreshed Hummer EV enhances an already amazing vehicle with new software innovations and forward-thinking design,” said Al Oppenheiser, GMC Hummer EV chief engineer, said in a statement.
“From the start, we aimed to provide Hummer EV owners over-the-air software updates. All 2026 Hummer EV owners will have access to our latest software going forward, allowing new features to be introduced throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle.”
What’s new
Aside from the King Crab mode, which officials noted makes good on a promise GMC made to Hummer owners to let them select what function would show up for the “Mystery Mode” button on the 2022 – 2025 models.
The Hummer EV Carbon Fiber Edition pickup gets a new interior color: Velocity Ember.
The pickup is faster than ever in the Carbon Fiber Edition, enabled by the 24-module battery as well as the optimization of software and propulsion calibration on the pickup. Hardware advancements and analysis work also made it happen.
The Carbon Fiber Edition is the biggest change for the 2026 model year. In addition to the improved acceleration, you can get it in higher contrast colors and a brighter palette.
Carbon Fiber Edition Pickups and SUVs feature an exclusive Magnus Gray Matte exterior and Velocity Ember interior theme with colors selected to show movement and form.
These special edition units will also include the following as standard:
- Unique 22-inch carbon fiber black wheels
- All-Terrain tires
- Carbon fiber inserts in the mirror caps and skid plate
- Black approach shield
- Black emblems
- 22-inch spare carbon fiber black wheel (SUV only)

Improved Tech
The new GMC Hummer EV gets two new color options, including Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte.
Not only does it get a new special edition, the 2026 Hummer EV gives owners the chance to explore exciting new adventures but also improved technology to make the pickup and SUV more helpful in trying circumstances.
For 2026, the Hummer EV offers bidirectional charging capability for both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-home. With vehicle-to-vehicle, it can transfer power to another compatible EV. And a vehicle-to-home-capable 2026 Hummer EV can provide power to a home in a blackout when properly equipped.
Additionally, it benefits from the latest iteration of General Motors self-driving technology Super Cruise, which is slated to cover 750,000 miles in the U.S. and Canada. Adaptive Cruise control has also been upgraded so the driver can choose to automatically adjust speed to match posted speed limits.
Through a 13.4-inch touchscreen, GMC allows you to customize what information you want to see. Part of that include the new Google built-in, which you can watch if you’re charging at a super charger.
The large screen also helps with maps and using OnStar, drivers can get intelligent EV routing, voice assistance and access to apps like Chrome, GameSnacks, and Prime Video.

Other updates
The brand improves the overall performance slightly for 2026 with the horsepower rating up to 1,160 ponies matched with 13,000 pound-feet of torque. The engineers also optimized the Hummer EVs damper tuning for better ride quality.
New for 2026 are two additional exterior paint colors available — Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte — as well as two new interior themes — Granite Drift and Stealth Eclipse. The new models will arrive at dealers late this year, officials noted, without offering any pricing information or updates on the range of the new models.
